Modern Vendor Rules
and Fees
Fees must be paid by December 31.

The Battle of Aiken Modern Food Vendor

Rules, Regulations, and Requirements

a) All Modern Food Vendors must be pre-approved with a signed contract and paid vendor fee. There are no exempt categories, unless approved by the Battle of Aiken Committee.

b) Fees must be paid by December 31. Modern Food Vendors may cancel by January 15 with setup fees returned. No refund will be made after January 15.

c) All Modern Food Vendors are responsible for paying any taxes and fees required by Law to the State of South Carolina and Aiken County.

d) All parking must be in the reserved area, marked for vendor parking, with the parking pass and phone number in plain view. (All others will be towed.)

e) Setup will be completed prior to 8:00 pm Thursday. Should there be a problem with this, contact the Modern Food Vendor Coordinator to make necessary arrangements. As mentioned in item 2, all fees will have been paid or setup will not be allowed.

f) A late fee of $50 will be charged for setting up after 8 pm, on Thursday. Due to the Friday School Day event, setup will not be allowed during the day. After 8:00 am Saturday, access for additional setup will not be allowed. All equipment, tents, etc., must be ready by 8:30 am, on Saturday.

g) Please send a list of all Modern Food Vendor workers for passes to be issued. Vendor workers entering without a pass will be required to purchase a ticket. All vendors and workers must sign a liability release. Modern Food Vendors will be allowed up to 4 passes for their location. Additional passes must be approved by the BOA committee.

h) You are responsible for maintaining appropriate sanitary conditions. We are subject to DHEC (South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control) at any given time.

i) All Modern Food Vendors are required to have an approved fire extinguisher. All propane cylinders must have a heat shield between the cylinder and any heat source. Upon setting up a tent or other equipment, an inspection will be required before you turn on any type of heat source.

j) Dispose of all trash in appropriate containers and dumpsters only. All Modern Food Vendors must clean up their site daily and before leaving at the end of the event. To prevent litter, no condiment packets may be used. All vendors must use dispenser containers for mustard, ketchup, sugar, salt, cream, and etc. Straws are not allowed.

k) Event times are Friday 8:00 am–6:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am—11:00 pm, and Sunday 8:00 am—5:00 pm. All vehicles parked in the Vendor parking area must be parked by 8:00 am and must remain in the parking area until 5 pm. Should you have circumstances that require a vehicle to exit and re-enter within this time period, arrangements must be made in advance with the Modern Food Vendor Coordinator. This will be kept to a minimum due to traffic routing. Incoming traffic will make this very difficult. There will be no special exceptions to this rule for any vendor. This is an emergency and security requirement.

l) Modern Food Vendor site locations are selected by BOA Committee. Should you desire a specific location, please notify Modern Food Vendor Coordinator with your application and every effort will be made to accommodate your request.

m) Modern Food Vendors must remain open until 4 PM daily through Sunday (except during emergency weather situations, the BOA staff will monitor and notify vendors). There will be NO departure until the crowd has departed the site without prior approval.

n) All Menu items and their Prices must be posted and clearly visible to spectators.

o) Failure to adhere to these Rules, Regulations, and Requirements will result in the removal from the site with no refund of fees. Invitations to future Battle of Aiken events will not be sent to Modern Food Vendors who violate event rules.

p) RV Camping will be available this year. Please inquire for costs and reservations, as space may be limited.

q) All problems should be addressed to the Modern Food Vendor Coordinator and the Battle of Aiken Planning Committee as soon as they are identified.
